Wow!! I (Debbie, Mom) just left Dan's side for a quick lunch while Dan gets some medical attention, and I decided to zip in to the hospital library to check Dan's blog. You all are so precious to us! Your comments continue to encourage us. This isn't the story I would have chosen, but the Lord taught me years ago "though my heart and my flesh may fail, the Lord is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." We choose to embrace this assigned portion, and thanks to you prayer partners, we get to experience the amazing presence of our Lord. Thank you so, so much. We are blessed.
We had an incredible day with Dan yesterday. He had Jen and me laughing -- probably too much for a hospital setting!!! :o)

Hugs from The White House
I check your blog site constantly throughout the day and I know just how to pray! It's a wonderful encouragement to me to read your blogs and all the comments. The body of Christ....so amazing! A song I sang with our daughter was "My God is so BIG,so great and so mighty, there's NOTHING my God cannot do!" We're so thankful that Dan and all of you are in the hands of our great big God! And so thankful for your times of laughter interspersed with the tears.
Hi! I'm Sherin Austin. My daughter Wendy was part of Dan's Mexico team. It has been good to follow Dan's progress and watch God's hand on your lives. The Austin family is praying in Portage, MI...
You can add Calvary Church in Muscatine, Iowa to your list. Found your website through my niece Rachel Wades website, www.rachelwade.com May our great God healer and comforter wrap His loving arms around you and your family. May He give you all strength,(Mom) you will be able to do what ever is needed of you. You may feel overwhelmed, but our Father doesn't ask us to do more than we are able. Keep the faith.
Your strength and faith is amazing to me. I will continue to pray for Dan and all of his family while on this long journey. God is ever near and I know that lives are being touched. God bless you all.
Small Chris showed up at my door the other day in his famous swimming trunks. He was asking for Captain Scratch. He still wants your plastic knife. I told him if he comes back tomorrow, I'll give him a piggy-back ride to Chicago to see you. Also, where's your talking monkey? I miss him. I don't think anybody's been feeding him. Don't worry though, your schleppy cowboy hat is safe here.
Hey,
my name's John Katona. Two years ago (the end of my junior year of high school) I broke my neck at C6. I had a blog much like this (www.iheartjk.blogspot.com) and reading some of your entries was like a flashback. I'm not sure what advice is good advice or not, but here are some things I would have liked hearing. Girls will still be attracked to you, and even kiss you. You will find ways to have fun doing the same things you loved, but in different ways. I played guitar, piano, etc. for hours every day (I even was my school's homecomeing band with my bro and a good friend junior year, and I used to lead praise and worship at church). Now, I bought a little keyboard and made two full CDs with my computer since my accident. I am not sure if I would be as good at arrangment, recording, and writting lyrics if I hadn't gotten hurt. Life is not really "better" or "worse" it's just different. If you have any questions, my e-mail is katonajohn@gmail.com. I will be praying for you.

Many blessings to Dan and all your family. I keep praying and thinking of all of you many times each day. May you be surrounded by the love of Christ and the prayers of family, friends, and strangers to bring you comfort, healing, encouragement, strength and rest. Sue Lemon--I met Bill on N. Ill. bike ride last summer
Debbie,
As you know your duck partners and the rest of us are continually praying for you. This site has been shared with us all and I'm sure we'll be checking over spring break so that our prayers will be more acurately placed. We love you and are praying.

Count on prayers from Seattle, WA as well - I'm one of the Glessner's prayer partners from Bible Baptist Church in Burien, WA. I started to pray for Dan upon reading about it in the Glessners' email, and I just now found the website. The God we serve is the same miracle-working God that we read about in the Old Testament who did things such as parting the sea, stopping the Jordan, stopping time, and consuming the water-doused offering on Mt. Carmel. Some may encourage you to tell God how big your problem is - I would encourage you to instead tell your problem how big your God is!
Dan and Family,
I am encouraged that you can still find laughter in a dark time. Look to the Lord for the great joy that He brings. Thank you for sharing this incredible time in your lives. We think of your family often and are reminded of times we spent with you all every time we check in on Dan.
Love to all,
Erin and Dan Jonathan
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am so sorry for Dan and his family.
This is my first experience with a blog and it's a wonderful way to share. I read that you all have been going minute by minute, hour by hour, and day to day with so many ups and downs. I pray that the Lord soon grants you all a week by week, and month by month, and year by year loving live! Keep them laughing Dan! May god's healing arms embrace you and your family. Know that my prayers for you will continue.
Blessings from an 82nd Airborne mom from Ohio
I'm not sure my first post was ever published, so I'll try again. You would know me as Jon E, Bekah, Mike, and Hannah Loker's mom. Jon E. was in your cabin at camp. We've all been praying for you regularly, along with close to a thousand prayer partners around the world. I'm glad your family has this site so we can keep in touch with your latest needs, struggles, and victories. We're pulling for you, Dan! Bless you and your whole family.
Dan!
Jesus is so good!!! I woke up this morning so glad to be alive, so glad to be breathing. I wanted to share that with you: every day is a gift. Every day is an amazing adventure. Every day is another opportunity to love Jesus more. I once read in a John Piper book that our primary purpose in life is to worship and enjoy the Father, and I was thinking about how we silly Americans clutter our lives with so much busy-ness that we forget that essential "nugget" of our life in Christ.
Dan, right now you have an incredible blessing: rest. And in this rest you can learn to truly get caught up in the Heart of the Risen Lord instead of all the junk of a normal college kid (like me). As Christians, we are often tempted to "do" everything we can to glorify God, when the essential message of Christ is that we BE. BE united with Him in His death,so that we BE One with Him in His resurrection,so that we will fully express Him. So I guess all this is to say AMEN! You can learn to love the Lord Jesus in such a powerful, powerful way right now. You can BE. Blessings in the Highest, my brother,
Allison Crino
hey Dan! i'm prayin for you brother! Dan, you taught me so many things in the few days I spent with you. It was an INCREDIBLE blessing being in your cabin. Im praying for you and your family. Hey, remember that one afternoon when we talked in the cabin? The Lord loves you.
your brother in Christ

Dan,I first heard of your story with the special request for prayer through the prayer letter of the Glessners whom our church here at Bible Baptist in Burien Wa. supports. I was very burdened to pray as I put myself in you and your families place, as I have a son who is 23 and has served the Lord on mission trips through his college years. He is training for possible foriegn missions and is taking EMT classes at the present in preparation. His name is Jeremy. It made me think of how someday my son may have to save a life as that Jeremy did for you. Thank God for the way He puts people into our lives at just the right moment in time. He is never too late. I am so thrilled to see the testimonies of your family and the wonderful strength God gives and the words of encouragement from all across the country. What a bond Christ gives to us who are in Him, even when we are strangers. No matter the outcome, God IS and WILL get the glory!

Hi K family! Every time I wake up at night I assume it's because the Lord wants me to pray about something. Recently, Dan has popped into my head first during these moments. So glad to hear you are being ministered to by God Himself. Thank you for your wonderful living testimony of faith and trust.

Prayers continuing from Iowa
"His grace still amazes me!!"
It is so good to hear the news of how God is working! The blog has been such a testimony of what God does when we completely put our trust in Him and in what He does.
Continuing to pray for all of you daily.
Take one day at a time. The joys and struggles for that day are measured and are meant only for that day. God gives the grace and help and peace for all He knows will come.
"Many things about tomorrow.
I don't seem to understand,
but I know who holds the future,
and I know who holds my hand"

We want you to konw the Vande Lune family is praying for Dan and your family. We are part of the statistics checking everyday for updates! Thank you for keeping us posted. We love you all.
Hey Knudsen family,
Greetings from Pensacola, FL!
I'm Rita Harrison, Loretta's sister in law, married to Johnny's brother, David. Just wanted you to know many folks are praying for you down here.
Although we haven't met you guys in particular, we feel we know you as we live vicariously through the many stories Loretta has shared through the years. We love you Knudsens, and have always been in awe of the closeness you share, no matter the miles that stretch between you. Your love for the Lord is evident, and He will continue to give you the strength and grace needed for such a time as this.
The Lord has brought to my mind the following scripture. Deut. 4:9...."Only be careful and watch yourselves closely so that you DO NOT FORGET the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them."
My prayer for your family is "oh Lord please do a miracle for this precious family and heal Dan fully, that they may be able to tell their children's children of your great and mighty works!
Much love, Rita Harrison
Dan you and your family are in our prayers, our little church here in Md is also praying. I pray ererytime I check the site and last night God woke me up to pray for you. You and your family are a mighty testimony to God's Grace.
Can't get you guys off my mind...it's a great thing because I keep bringing your family before our Father knowing He alone can meet all of your needs! Thanks for keeping us up to date with this blog! We'll keep "storming the throne room of Heaven" on your behalf! Know that your family is in our hearts and prayers.
The Vet family
We Keep praying for you guys!!! It is so great what God has done and is still doing through all of this! Just wanted to let you know that Alyssa and I are in prayer, as are a whole bunch of sudents at EHS. Keep up the good spirits and remeber the power of God in all things!
Hi Guys, None of you, never cease to amaze us with your faith!! (Well Bill for different reasons)(only kidding!!)
We are praying for you guys continually!!!!! Seriously, not just in our regular times of prayer, but for instance, we will be watching tv and at the most tense or riveting point of the program, Jeff will take the remote, click it off and say, "lets pray for the Knudsens".......So all that to say, if anyone reading this blog knows how CSI Miami ended last week, could you let us know.....Only kidding again.....
Jeff talked to Jen last week for a few minutes, we love you all so very much and we think you are one special family. Give Dan our love also and we are here for what ever you need. (Tell Dan that Richard who is now married and never calls to check in with us is now calling every few days for an update on Dan.)
You are all in our prayers, Love, Jeff & Kim
Have you all noticed the comments coming in are for the most part, at least once an hour, if not 2 or more in an hour? And all day long? You are being well covered in thoughts and prayers.I imagine the night time may be the hardest. When there is a lag in comments in the night hours you are still thought of and being cared for by our Heavenly Father. Ps. 139:11-12
"If I say, "Surely the darkness will overwhelm me, And the light around me will be night," Even the darkness is not dark to You, and the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You." Vs. 17-18 "How precious also are your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand."
Prayers from Seattle
Dan, Bill, Deb and family,
As a recent song said "Life is hard, but God is good." I just want to let you know that we here at Crossway Books are praying for y'all. May you know and feel His love moment by moment. Jill Carter
Still praying in Northern Ohio...
Dan and family,
It is encouraging to hear there is laughter going on there. Hospitals need more laughter! We are still praying constantly for you all. Stay strong and keep your focus on the Lord, He is mighty and good.
Love the Morzaks
My church in Maryland has you on their prayer chain. I am extremely impressed by the love and faith shown by your entire family. Lucy in Puebla
Hi Knudsens!
I'm one of those readers that knows you without knowing you... I am a friend of Emily's via Moriah Huff. I felt compelled to comment after reading one of the above comments that said that you were being thought of and prayed for seemingly on the hour- except for maybe at night. Well, I just want you to know, I work night shift as a nurse, and I care for neurology patients who have injuries similar to Dan's. Frequently, as I care for them during the night, you come to mind and I say a little pray for Dan and your family. I just wanted to encourage you to know that even at night, you are on our hearts and minds.
Also wanted to say thanks for your encouragement to me. I read your blog, coming from a nurse's mindset. At work I frequently get frustrated at the limits that medicine and surgery have, and especially with neuro patients, those limits seem so ... constricting. So thank you, and all the other people who comment on this blog, for encouraging me that our God is LIMITLESS! He is not constrained by the knowledge or skill of physicians or nurses. I hope I can be a beacon of hope to my patients as I am reminded to have faith, as you do.
