He slept!

Dan [and dad] set a record of 7 hours of sleep!

Even though Dan sported a temp for most of the evening, the doctor tried a different sleep medication and it worked. There were even a few buzzers that went off during the night, but Dan went right back to sleep. Thanks AGAIN for all of your prayers.

Today has been a good day of speech therapy that lasted for 1.5 hours. The breathing and then waiting to speak on the exhale is all about pacing and takes a bit of time for Dan to get used to. This session did blow away the therapist's goals for the next few days, so she will have to up the ante.

Dan continues to be a bold witness when he can. When an RIC psychologist asked him to describe his life, he stated "my relationship with Jesus is important to me". His body has not rebounded yet, but his spirit and mind have never wavered.

Thanks for visits from our pastors from Harvest Bible Chapel on Thursday, and a counselor from the Biblical Counseling Center today. There are lots of changes, new behaviors, future planning and environments to process by Dan and us. Continue to pray that God would be glorified in the lives of all us Knudsen's.

Just wanted to send a note from Dallas letting you know that I have been praying for you and your family since I found out about your accident. Today was the first time I looked at the blog. How encouraging it was to read the progress you (Dan) have made. I work in the medical field and have had many opportunities to talk with those who have recovered from traumatic injuries. As a matter of fact several weeks ago I volunteered through my church to help out at a camp for those who have had traumatic brain injuries. There were many miracles who walked through the door to greet us! Dan, I just want to encourage you to not lose hope and remember that our Hope is our Lord. From what I have read, you have made great progress. Remember with progress there are good days and bad days....during those bad days try to focus on what you CAN do. I look forward to hearing more about what you accomplish the next several months.

Dan,
Your progress already sounds stupendous! Keep your chin up, brother. Don't let a hard day or two get your spirits down, just keep smiling and showing them you love Jesus through your face. :)Many thoughts and prayers headed to you and your family. Our God is an AWESOME God who reigns from heaven above with WISDOM, POWER, AND LOVE! Our God is an awesome God!

Knudsen's,

I was driving in my car today without the kids and had some time to pray for you. This song came on and I so clearly knew it would be your words. You are such an amazing testimony. The Lord CHOSE you for this time, for HIS purpose. How awesome.

"Bring The Rain" - Mercyme

I can count a million times people asking me how I can praise You with all that I've gone through.
The question just amazes me - can circumstances possibly change who I forever am in You?
Maybe since my life was changed long before these rainy days.
It's never really ever crossed my mind to turn my back on you, oh Lord, my only shelter from the storm.
But instead I draw closer through these times - So I pray...

Bring me joy, bring me peace
Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings You glory
And I know there'll be days
When this life brings me pain
But if that's what it takes to praise You
Jesus, bring the rain

I am Yours regardless of the dark clouds that may loom above
Because You are much greater than my pain
You who made a way for me
By suffering Your destiny
So tell me what's a little rain
So I pray

Holy, holy, holy
Is the Lord God Almighty

Awakened again tonight, to pray that you might sleep. We do continue to pray that God will be glorified in the lives of each of you, as He has been thus far! Dan, thank you for "making much of Christ" on this journey. We pray you rest in HIS strength for each new day.

Dan and Fam,

I am so encouraged when I read your blog. Your faith in the Lord just shines through, and I know that you guys are leaning on him. THAT is encouraging. I am confident that the Lord is going to use Dan, and I pray to that end. It is so awesome that he is proclaiming his name boldly with what little strength he has. It makes me desire to be a better proclaimer of his name! So I praise God for your faithfulness to him, and thank you for sharing your story so openly with all of us.

We received word of this accident from the dad of one of the other Mission Trip participants, Brynne. We are glad to be praying for Dan and the whole family. I wanted to share a chapter of the Bible that has meant a great deal to me when dealing with hard situations.

Psalms 29: 1-11
"Ascribe to the LORD, O sons of the mighty, Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in holy array.
The voice of the LORD is upon the waters; The God of glory thunders,
The LORD is over many waters.
The voice of the LORD is powerful,
The voice of the LORD is majestic.
The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; Yes, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,
And Sirion like a young wild ox.
The voice of the LORD hews out flames of fire.
The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; The LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
The voice of the LORD makes the deer to calve And strips the forests bare; And in His temple everything says, "Glory!"
The LORD sat as King at the flood;
Yes, the LORD sits as King forever.
The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace."

Even in this very difficult storm, God remains seated as King on His throne, just as He did during the flood. Past, present, and future, that's where God will be. And God promises to give His people strength and peace, in the midst of those storms.

What an awesome chapter in the Bible! I hope it also speaks to you as it does to me.

Sincerely in Christ,

Dan and Family,

We are glad that you were able to sleep 7 hours. We have been praying for peace and that the fear of the situation will not be overwhelming. I was reading in my Bible this week Philippians 4:6-8. Remember to keep you mind fixed on what is pure, right, and good, be anxious for nothing but ask in thanksgiving and you will be given the peace of God. Much love from your friends in Kansas City.
