30 years

"Happy Anniversary to us. May 27, 1978"

Yup, we've racked up 30 years of marriage.
Most of you are saying "Man, that's really OLD". . .
and we're saying the same thing here.
LOL
Our kids can comment on some of their favorite memories,

but a few of the priceless ones are:

  • Seeing Deb come down the aisle on our wedding day - she was gorgeous.
  • Buying our first house ... a 80-yr. old 3-flat rehab special.
  • Lamaze classes before we had baby Matthew ... but not using much of it at his birth.
  • Going to the grocery store with a buggy and bike ... no car again.
  • Being so excited about our little baby girl ... Jennifer
  • Buying our 2nd house ... a 40-yr. old, tiny 2 bedroom rehab special.
  • We stared in disbelief & shock, at twin’s ultra sound ... there were Michael & Daniel at 16 weeks, in the same B&W 3x3 photo. [This only happens to other people]
  • Buying our 3rd house ... a 30-yr. old 4-level rehab special.
  • Annual trip 1.5 hours each way, to look at 100’s of Christmas trees ... then returning back & cutting down the first one seen.
  • Going to Disney World with the Herman's, with only a 24-hour notice.
  • Having 2 of our children married, with very fun weddings.
  • Being grandparents to 3 perfect grand daughters :)

Congratulations!
I think our generation was alot better off b/c we were happy with swanky weddings and church basement receptions. It was more about becoming one with Christ and not one with a bank loan b/c a reception. Now young couples think they have to buy a 2200 sq. ft home BEFORE they get married.
Hope all the young people reading this learn something from you two. All that you wrote about it IS why you have made it 30 years.
God Bless,
Connie Lukacs

And, don't forget Bill singing "I'll Be Loving You Always" at your wedding. Thanks, Bill, for loving my daughter so much and thanks Debbie for loving him back.

How about Saturday morning tickle fights on your bed. Or Saturday night pizza and movie. Or all the "work" we did in the yard on weekends (didn't you always encourage us to be using our imaginations and playing outside in the woods anyway!) Or of course the 4 sets of "eeewwww" as we ran out of the room to avoid the worst site possible...parents kissing!
We love you guys and can't wait to hit our big 30! (only 29 years and 20 days to go!)

Hey, what about working in the warehouse for the family business at ages that not even McDonald's hires? Or being escorted down my park rangers after hiking several hundred feet at the Garden of the Gods in CO (the posted limit was 10ft without proper equipment)? Or how about driving a large motor home through the mountains in CA with Mom fearing for her family's life while the kids slid around on kitchen towels?? :-)
I hope this new house will do away with all those weekend projects for the "rehabs".

You guys are an awesome couple and exemplify what commitment in marriage means.
