Our Eyes are on the Lord

When I (Debbie) was still in Mexico, I was trying to recall which king in the Old Testament had prayed something about his eyes looking for the Lord. By "coincidence," Grace, one of the missionaries I stayed with, was doing a Bible study on "eyes." Although I looked up that particular king soon after we got home, I just today started to do a word search on "eyes." These verses have become strength for me:

II Chronicles 20:3 And Jehoshaphat was afraid and turned his attention to seek the Lord.
6 O Lord, the God of our fathers . . . Power and might are in Thy hand . . .
9 Should evil come upon us, the sword, or judgment, . . . (or a paralyzed child, etc.) . . . we will stand before Thee . .
12 For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on Thee.
Psalm 25:15 My eyes are always looking to the Lord for help, for He alone can rescue me from the traps of my enemies.
Psalm 123:1,2 To Thee I lift up my eyes, O Thou who art enthroned in the heavens! . . .our eyes look to the Lord our God, until He be gracious to us.

I've been talking to Dan about the enemies that surround him - fear, confusion, anger, unrest, etc. Please pray that he will be able to "fix his eyes on Jesus." It is very hard for him to concentrate, and of course, he can't exactly sneak away to a quiet place to pour out his heart to the Lord. Pray that his faith will be strengthened. He told me yesterday that he can't recall any of the passages that he memorized before the accident (not a physical result of the accident, but a concentration issue). I love when many of you have mentioned that you are "storming the throne of grace" for Dan.

Dan's temperature fluctuation seems better, but there is still some concern, so he is having a bone scan Tuesday to see if there is infection from his pressure sore. There's always something!

We can't have that!
What about Scripture songs, even "kiddie" ones, like Steve Green's "Hide 'Em in Your Heart" songs? Maybe Dan could bring those to mind more easily. Works for this 45-year old. :)
Praying for peace, clarity of thought and courage for you, Dan.

Still praying for you all! We miss being up there with you Dan...seeing your smiling face. Hope to see you soon. Its not uncommon to forget things when you have been through a traumatic accident. praying that you will press on and keep your focus on the Lord. Phil 3:13-14 Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

We love you all, the Morzak's

Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Phil 4:19 And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Looking forward to seeing you Wednesday!

Praying that Dan will find a still quiet place in his spirit where he can "sneak" away to seek our all powerful, all loving God, and find the peace that is promised to him.

Hey Dan and family, just wanted to let you know that I'm praying for you right now, as I have been every time I think of you! My heart truly aches for you, my brothers and sisters, and I pray that the God of comfort will strengthen you with each new day, to calm all of your fears and give you joy. It seems impossible to me from a human standpoint, but with God, all things are possible!

Would it help to colorfully and creatively write out some encouraging verses, laminate them, and attach them to the walls or even the ceiling so that Dan can see them and always have them in his mind?
I've struggled because sometimes it doesn't feel like God is loving or sovereign but our feelings don't change the truth. God IS loving and he IS sovereign whether it feels like it or not.
Hang onto the promises given by the Ultimate Promise Keeper!
Still praying in Portage, MI...

Getting my mind focused away from external happenings so I can pray has only been possible for me by starting with the Lord's Prayer. I make each phrase personal for me and everyone in my family. And as I think about Him, it makes me grateful for Him. So then I start naming specifics about Him and thanking Him for them. (His attributes and what He has done for me). Then I thank Him for the people around me, and the advanced care/equipment that we have in this high tech age. I thank Him for the institution of family and then family members, and for the family of God. And this is just for me, but I thank Him for the institution of marriage and thank God for my husband. That has helped me love my husband more. It is quite amazing. I'm praying for you Dan and your family.

Dear Dan and family,

I'm praying God will continue to comfort you and give you the power to walk this path. I can't recall what I memorized either (without checking it again) and I haven't had a traumatic accident to deal with, so don't feel badly about that. Maybe having verses you tape or put on a CD to listen to - promises and favorite passages or the ones memorized. Once I get "started", it seems to come back. Anyway, helps me... :)

Are you getting turned enough in bed so the pressure points aren't being compromised? The sore places should be healing, not getting worse. I'm sure they're doing that but if they aren't, ask the Dr. about it.

A special hug for each of you.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of Earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace

Always praying for you in Northern Ohio...tears come again for Dan. This mother's heart just wants to take some of his heartache, fear, and stress away. You know "to fix things" like mom's do. Put the bandaid on and the kiss to reassure him things will be fine. But the bandaid and the kiss isn't going to work this time so I beg our Heavenly Father daily to help Dan through this.

Please tell Dan that we in NW Mexico City are praying for him. I am praying that he will have strength to sing in the sadness and that he will be surrounded by godly people who love him and the Lord. May God fill his mind with the Word that once came so easily.
My husband is from Chicago and we lived in Aurora for 24 yrs. so I understand the frigid weather. May God's strength surround all of you in this time of weakness.

Hi All:
You don't know me, but I've been praying for you guys as I read 1 Samuel 25. Abigail said to David, and I pray for you, "May the Lord bind you securely in the bundle of the living, and hurl your enemies (depression, anxiety, fear) away like stones from a slingshot."
Once David figured out that the Lord was fighting his battles for him, he was able to accept the place of honor that God had prepared for him.
Dan-- you've been placed in a unique position to fight a unique battle-- for our struggle isn't against flesh and blood, but against the powers and authorities of this dark world. Fight hard! We're praying for you!

Julia
