Reprieve Reprieve

I got a call today that told me that Dan has a reprieve from the State of IL. DHS will be able to continue to fund Garrett, Dan's Personal Assistant [PA] through Dec 31st, 2008. The "appeal letter" that Dan submitted was noted and agreed with by the DRS. [How could they NOT be persuaded by Dan]

In the meanwhile we are scrambling to get some type of PA assistance in the state of OHIO. The state of IL comptroller will not pay directly, because they cannot properly monitor in another state, but they will pay via an IL approved care agency. We have already researched this with a national agency that we used when we first got home from RIC last year. [There's always "one more thing"]

Isn't God good ! ! !

Friday we were met by a host of "Getting Started" students who emptied out 2 vans in 5 minutes. Some helped set up Dan's room. [More on that later] We made the usual Walmart run, and Dan spent his first night back at the 'ville.

During Monday night's Bible Conference session, Pastor Rohm, CU Students' Pastor, was announcing praises from recent MIS trips and events, "And another praise is that Dan Knudsen is back on campus." The auditorium broke out in a big round of applause, whistles and hollering for Dan. You had to be there. :D

This is the place for Dan right now. Students, faculty, staff and alumni stop him everywhere, say "Hi, we're so glad you're back at CU". Thank you, Thank you, Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Dan:

I'm a staff member at Cedarville that has been following your blog and praying for you over the past year-and-a-half. As as I was leaving chapel on Tuesday, I happened to see you on my way out--what a blessing to see how God has brought this moment to fruition! And praise God for how he continues to open doors for you and your continued studies at Cedarville.

Hey Dan!

I missing you already. I didn't take the opportunity to tell you how rewarding it was to stick with you for the last 14 months with weekly visits to you. I am amazed at how far you have come. You really were Mr. Kranky Pants in the beginning, but now it is so fun to come visit and feed you. You are so much happier and such a joy to spend time with. I'm really excited to see you back at school and deeply appreciate the countless times you and your family have stepped out on faith and God has answered. Stay strong, continue to hope and... Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths!
Love ya,
Mrs. Brase-coz you won't call me Rhonda :) Tell Garrett hi!

Praise God for such great support from your CU friends to get it done when you got there.

God is good, and I am trusting him to provide your funding Dan. Paperwork is NOT fun, and there will be a ton of it to get through the funding issues....but God knows, and is preparing your path (smoothing it out for a smooth ride in your chair :)

Still praying for you guys! and for mom and dad as you adjust to Dan being back at CU.

Are you still needing help from volunteers? I am on staff at Cedarville and have had trouble trying to contact you. I've sent 2 different emails.
