Summer '09

Dan finished his 2 online classes last week, has visited several doctors in the last 2 weeks trying to get answers to his ongoing aliments, and has enjoyed spending time on the computer, not having to do class work!

As you obviously know, we don't update this blog very often, but it seems that Dan is finally not in crisis mode any more. That is not to say there are no issues; they are ongoing.

The biggest concern is Dan's constant pain -- especially in his hands. We went to a hand specialist, quite excited for answers, but his response was that it is a result of the spine injury. We will try new splints, but have no hope at this point of let up of pain.

We are all gearing up for Dan to go back to school this fall. It's quite an ordeal for anyone to pack up for school, but with all of Dan's equipment, whoa!! Bill will once again stay for a couple of weeks to get Dan started and help train the new guys who will help with Dan.

So, all in all Dan has had a good summer. Thanks to the few of you left out there who check in on D
an and pray for us. We're still in the journey!! Please pray for Dan.

"Whom have I in heaven but You? I desire You more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever. But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign LORD my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things You do. Psalm 73:26, 28

Have you considered a chiropractor? We go to one that does not crack your bones but uses a computer to apply pressure with a pronged instrument.

My husband was suffering with severe migraines 2-3 times a week and we started going to this chiropractor and it took about 9 months but he no longer has any migraines. He found 3 vertebrae in his neck that was out of alignment and has now gotten them fixed and he's doing wonderful.

If you're interested in going for a consultation to a chiropractor that works in this manner I can ask our dr. for a name for one in your area. My email: hjr0128@rutrough.com

Thanks for the update! You will all be our prayers especially for the next few weeks.

I dislike going to a new doctor, thinking they will have some new info, some possible treatment for something important and then getting pretty much the same old, same old. It can get discouraging. Glad you are all hanging in there.

God is indeed the strength of your heart! I've had Type 1 diabetes for 41 years and I'm pretty sick of it. It's really nothing compared to what Dan experiences, but I was glad to be reminded of the verses you shared in this post. I needed to hear them. Thanks!

Hi! I have been checking in on Dan and praying for him almost since the time of his accident, although this is the first time I post any comments. It is great to see everything he has accomplished and he is a great inspiration to me.

I have a 7 year old son who was born with CP (cerebral palsy) and I have seen all the miracles God has performed in his life. And I come here often to see all the miracles God has perfomed in Dan's life.

Life with any type of disability is not easy and only the people who are in that situation and those around them know of all the struggles and hardships, but we can still trust that in the midst of all God is in control.

God bless you and help you reach all your goals!

Hope all goes smoothly with the start of this school year and we will be specifically praying for the pain in Dan's hands.

Do not grow weary of doing good!

Checking in on Dan is a part of the things I do. Our daughter was on the trip to Mexico with Dan. Reading about how you all handle the daily issues is amazing.

May he continue to keep you in the hollow of His hand.
